NO MORE BIKING FOR ME THIS SEASON

SORRY.  SOMEONE ELSE WILL HAVE TO LEAD RIDE THURSDAY.

SPRING-BREAKER ON PATH MOVED OUT IN FRONT OF ME TONIGHT AND KNOCKED ME OFF BIKE.  BROKEN RIGHT WRIST.  CANNOT BIKE.  CANNOT DRIVE.  CANNOT DO MUCH OF ANYTHING AT THIS POINT.  WORKING ON ARRANGING FOR MY SON TO COME PACK UP MY STUFF AND DRIVE ME TO ATLANTA.

THIS ONE FINGER TYPING IS A PAIN

SEE YOU ALL NEXT WINTER.  :)

(P.S.  LET ME AMEND THAT...DROVE BACK TO EMERGENCY AT SACRED HEART AT 3AM...THEY HAD TO ADJUST SPLINT...SO I GUESS WE KNOW I CAN DRIVE A SHORT DISTANCE!  :))

  1. Barb, sorry about the wrist, call on us if you need a hand before your son can arrive to assist you. Would you still like to attend the Wednesday meeting? Patty and I are going and would take you with us. I'll call later and check with you. Chris & Patty

    1. You guys are so caring, Chris and Patty. Thank you! Just took more meds and am getting drowsy so I may sleep late and don't think I want to negotiate all those people tomorrow. Need a little time to get used to this (I see the ortho in a couple of days for the cast.)

If you have time later on, might appreciate some company, though. :)

    2. Barbara, we're so sorry to hear about your terrible accident. What a lousy end to a wonderful winter. When does your son come??? I hope the culprit at least stopped and helped you.

The Chicago ride sounds fantastic. Wish I lived closer; I'd do it!!!!

    4. Thanks! Took me two hours this morning to hang up clothes from yesterday, semi-make the bed, brush teeth, semi-bathe and get dressed and make appt. for cast tomorrow. And now I'm tired again...but maybe that's partly the meds. LOL

I'll get better at this. :) Drive safely back!

    1. Thank you for your kind offer, Stan and Diane. My son arrives early Sunday in a rental car he'll leave here and drive me back in my car. I hang most of my clothes in the car and don't have too much to get packed, so we think it will take no more than a couple of hours. :) May see you tomorrow at lunch after I get my cast.

  6. I want to publicly thank the Olsons for taking such good care of me, waiting for hours in emergency and taking me to get my pain meds and dinner Tuesday night. You and the Schalls have saved the day and I am eternally grateful! Add to that the thoughtful offers here on the blog and by phone and I just thank God for you all!

  9. Hi Miss Barb, just read what happened to you, that is so horrible, it's a good thing you have a great son to take care of you. (kids do come in handy sometimes). I am willing to help in anyway also, packing, shopping whatever you need, please let me know. I have some homemade spaghetti sauce I would like to give you. Do you need noodles also? Let me know, I can deliver it after the bike ride.

  11. Hi All-

I just saw all the follow-up comments since Barb's accident and didn't realize the ride was still on in Gulf Place. Would have loved one more ride together, but rest assured, Ken and I took an hour ride that day around here. Barb, I hope you were able to make the lunch, and are feeling a bit better now. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ORGANIZING THE BIKE GROUP AND THE RIDES. We would not have met so many wonderful people, or taken such varied routes without you. Already looking forward to next winter. We're booked!
